Evansville, IN: Evansville’s Ford Center has been nominated for a 2012 Concert Industry Award for the Best New Major Concert Venue by Pollstar Magazine.

I believe the nomination re-affirms a phenomenal opening year, made possible by the support of the City of Evansville and many area residents. We are excited that this nomination has brought more national attention to Evansville.”
The four other venues nominated for this award include Barclays Center (Brooklyn, NY), Capitol Theatre (Port Chester, NY), The Fillmore Silver Spring (Silver Spring, MD), and Smith Center for the Performing Arts (Las Vegas, NV). Voting began November 9th and the winner will be announced at the 24th Annual Pollstar Concert Industry Awards on February 7, 2013 in Los Angeles, CA.
Ford Center had a very busy inaugural season, with more than 140 events that included Evansville IceMen hockey regular and post-season games, University of Evansville Men’s and Women’s regular and post-season games, concerts, and family events. Highlights include sold out performances by Bob Seger, Zac Brown Band, Lady Antebellum, Elton John, and Eric Church. Other events featured world-class performances by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, the Harlem Globetrotters, Jeff Dunham, Disney on Ice, Cirque du Soleil: Quidam, a televised WWE SmackDown, James Taylor, and Brad Paisley. Ford Center was also the recipient of a Facilities Magazine Prime Site Award.
Ford Center has a busy upcoming event season planned, with family events like the 79th Annual Hadi Shrine Circus (November 22-25, 2012), Monster Jam (January 11 & 12, 2013), the Harlem Globetrotters (January 22, 2013), and Disney on Ice (March 27-30, 2013); concerts featuring Michael W. Smith (December 14, 2012), The Temptations (December 27, 2012), Luke Bryan (January 17, 2013), and the Winter Jam Tour Spectacular (January 31, 2013); plus more events yet to be announced.

The nominating committee is comprised of industry leaders in all facets of the entertainment business, including: arena managers, artists, artist managers, agents and promoters from across the country and abroad. The winner of this prestigious award is determined by the international readership of Pollstar.
